![]() Like SwissMiss said, it is pricey (close to $100 USD) but given that it's lasted a full year so far while the others seem to give out more frequently, seems worth it to SwissMiss is also right that they are sad and pathetic looking while wearing it. The company is also pretty good with customer service. For that reason alone, I'd choose Greenguard. She's never had the Greenguard off, except for this incident when whatever happened that caused her to snap the halter. She had the Tough-1 muzzle off in less than an hour. Something happened earlier this summer and she ended up breaking the breakaway strap on her halter, so I had to put her in the Tough-1 muzzle so I could get a replacement breakaway strap for the halter. I can’t decide between the miniature size or the yearling/pony size. I noticed there are several sizes in the Tough 1 easy breathe masks. When I go out to feed in the morning, I will take it off for a couple of hours and she eats a couple of flakes of hay in a slow feeder before I put it back on for the rest of the day in late morning (taking it off again when she gets fed hard feed later in the day). What size grazing muzzle did you buy I have two mini donkeys (whose bellies are a far cry from mini) and I need to purchase them grazing muzzles. I also get my hay tested and he gets fed a condensed vit/min supplement as opposed to a ration balancer to keep his calorie and NSC intake downĪnother vote for Greenguard. He’s the sweetie boy on the left in my avatar, which was taken this summer I took the muzzle off and he hasn’t worn one since <- that was 2015.īUT he ended up losing 100 much needed pounds and has not gained it back because I am thankfully retired, therefore able to micro manage him. One day I saw him sucking seeds up thru the muzzle because the grass had become too short. ![]() He wore the muzzle for three years during the grass growing season - nine months where I live. He became very proficient and never did have issues drinking water. I was literally one day away from caving in, when he started eating thru the muzzle. He would go to pasture with my other horses but he would stand back and refuse to eat. I would have to bring him in his stall every day at 1:00 so he could drink water and eat hay. He eats grass faster than any horse I have ever seen. He fought that muzzle for a couple of weeks. I am trying to get some weight off of our stud. I tried a couple different brands and ended up with a Tough-1 Easy Breath as my big headed Walking Horse could not breath thru the other muzzles.
